Introduction:
The Spiritual Quest is a quest for knowledge, and whether you have
read hundreds of "New
Age" books, or are a relative newcomer, as I am, you won't
read many until you encounter the Mystery
of Time. What is so mysterious about time--other than how
there never seems to be enough of it, or how it just
"slips" away? Plenty. Many believe there is no time--that time is just an "illusion" -- one that we
create to explain events in our physical dimension.
Nowhere
is this more prominent than in the Seth
Books channeled by the late Jane Roberts in the Sixties and
Seventies. Therein you will discover the concept that all things
past, present and future are happening now in this moment, this
instant. Others have called this their "Eternal Moment of
Now." Expanding this idea a little farther one would have to
believe there is no past nor future, there is only now, this
instant, when all things are happening.
Our
intent was not to challenge a psychic who has become near and dear
to our heart. But if there is no time, some explanations were necessary to explain how
growth through successive incarnational experience could
occur—and how that experience could be carried forth in each
lifetime, the very reason for further incarnations. If our first
and last reincarnation is occurring this instant, how is it
determined how many lifetimes
you (and I) must live and experience to "get it right"
(bi-gender balance)?
Fortunately
we don't have to go searching through New Age bookshelves (which
can become rather costly) to find the answer, we just "Take
it to ZZ" and if we pester them often enough with the same
questions (or more questions from the answers we get) then we are
able to put together "The
Big Picture."
The
Big Picture:
In
ZZ Message #9 (
2/27/03
)
"Duality of Time" Zeb responded to my question that
follows:
1.
Mel: > Is time an illusion wherein all events past, present and
future are happening this instant in an ever expanding orb of
events? Or is time linear--one moment following the next, one
second, minute, hour, year, decade, etc -- marching along in
single file -- one following the next?
2.
Zeb:> Much "time" and effort is being spent by others
discussing "time." Some say it is relative. Some say it is linear--one
moment following the next in a steady progression from past, to
present, to future. Others say "time
is an illusion." That all events of past present and
future are happening now, this instant. Are you confused? Many
are. So, what is the truth?
3. I am going to use my favorite example of the Emerald Tablet
again--"That which is below" (where you are) is like
"That which is Above" (out there in the universe). Your
greatest thinkers have said that time is relative. In the 3rd
Dimension time is relative to many things--distance and speed at
which you travel through space. And time is relative to which
dimension you are in, yours or mine. Time is not measured by the
speed of light alone. Time is measured in your dimension by the
speed of a cosmic body [moving] through space. You measure stellar
distance by the speed of light.
4. What is time in your dimension but the rotation
of your Earth on its axis, its rotation around your Sun, the Sun's
(and your Solar System's) rotation around the center of your
galaxy, and the rotation of your galaxy around [the center of]
your universe in its ever expanding travel?
5. Note carefully the duality of influences on your time--all
cosmic bodies travel on a linear
path that is ever expanding outward. One could even say that you
humans expand as you travel through time, right? [Smile]
6. So, your time is governed by both the linear
distance of your travel and the expansion. Your measure of
time is determined by the 24 hour rotation of your Earth and its
365.25 day orbit, around the Sun. You know all this, but since
some still say this is all an illusion
it is necessary to remind you of facts you learned in childhood.
But, you should also be aware that your Solar System, like
everything else, is expanding. The distance your Earth travels
around the Sun slowly gets greater, year after year. A year of
your time is longer than it was, say 400 years ago. Read your
science books if you doubt me.
7. Time on a cosmic scale is a relative
duality determined by both the linear distance and the speed
of travel and is affected by expansion, a duality within a
duality. Time is also a duality of dualities--for in my
dimension there is no time. Time on my side is an illusion, but
not in your dimension. You are both spiritual and physical are you
not? You are. Therefore, you experience time both linearly and
all-at-once. These are the facts
of time and they are no illusion.
Mel:> So from this we learned that time is relative to not only
where you are -- your
location within the physical universe, versus the other
dimensions, but also when
you are. Time is slowing down even where it does exist (in the
physical realm). Yet time is relative also to how we measure it.
Our calendars have been changed several times since ancient times
and different
calendars
are still in use today.
For anyone who channels or participates in Remote Viewing or
Astral Travel-- anything dealing with the
psychic or spiritual world quickly discovers that time is not the
same on the Otherside as it is here. Quite often what is
"future" or "present" gets mixed up with what
is "past." It does seem that all events, past, present
and future are happening "now." So in this way, time is
an illusion, as Zeb says in ZZ Message...
#8:
19.
Time is an illusion, yet your creations and lives are not. You can
(and will) visit as many past and future lifepaths as you desire
here on your Earth and elsewhere, even though pasts and futures
are illusions of your time.
[Mel:> Hey! Wait a minute ... isn't that a complete reversal
from what Zeb just told us in Message #9? No, not if you observe
closely how he builds the next statement that follows.]
Zeb:>
But what you see when you go back or forward in time is not a
reenactment for your benefit but an enactment in
real time.
[Mel:> We have come to understand that this occurs in the
Akashic dimension where all life experiences (memories) are
stored as records like in some form of "virtual reality"
available for instant "replay." It is not a
"reenactment" but an "enactment" of what has
been, and is, and possibly what is to come.]
20.
This is something that is so hard for those of you in the physical
universe to comprehend. Time on your side is only a measure of
your passage through space. It is meaningless once you leave
Earth. There are other measures of time that makes yours seem like
eternity. Others that make yours seem like a brief flicker of an
eyelash--each look at the other that is longer and thinks
"immortal" or "eternal" when all is relative.
21. For you to perceive time—to explain it—you must enter into
the linear world where events are strung out--one following the
other--when in reality they are all expanding out from the center
at once. But you are limited by the way you think, perceive, talk
and write. You can do no better with the five senses. Knowing [as
in channeled information, or Remote Viewing and Astral Travel
experiences] comes all at once, or to use Mel's favorite computer term, "in batch"
or it can come [through life experience] serially,
one bit at a time. Serial or Parallel even your computers talk
this way. You are no different, except you can talk only serially,
but receive in parallel. Your own creations [computers] have an
advantage over you—its creator, in that they can send and
receive in both modes.
Time
is a Slinky Toy:
In ZZ Message #10 (3/4/03) "The Coils of Time" after
more "pestering" from me about "Time" Zeb
tries another approach to explain Time, using the familiar
"Slinky Toy" (a spring-like coil of wire) as an
illustration of how time progresses in several directions all at
once (along the "coil of time") as well as expanding or
contracting in duration which explains that the same time exists
on both sides and in other dimensions, but one expands or
compresses it in such a manner as to make it appear an
"illusion" (it doesn't exist) or linear where it
measures speed and distance.
It even appears from what we will later present from what we have
learned that it can expand or compress even in this dimension.
Have you ever been in a car accident where you see it coming and
time literally seems to slow down? Many of us have and it is no
illusion. Another example of this was brought "home" to
me recently with the passage from this life into the next of a
dear friend of mine, Boo Hayes.
I was allowed to witness his soul being taken "Home" by
Zarna, but in this fusion of physical and spiritual worlds of
reality what I witnessed in "real time" (the instant Boo
"died") did not come to me when it happened--it came to
me as a memory
(that I didn't know I had) later. I was not physically there, yet a part of me was, even though I was not
aware of it at the "time."
Strange things can happen when you experience the merging of both
worlds (Spiritual and Physical) through what some call the
psychic (spiritual) senses.
Time
is Not What You Think It Is:
In ZZ Message #13 (
4/14/03
) Zeb
was yet confronted with more questions from "Insatiable
Minds" (Who want to know) and we were given more than the
"relativity model" and the "Slinky Toy model."
Zeb felt we were ready for a little "expansion" of mind,
to fit the expansion of time.
10.
There is no time as you understand it. It is as others have so
accurately said--time is of your imaginations. The example of your
universal time where a moment is tens of thousands, of thousands
of
millions of your years is true. That is your "Eternal Moment
of Now." You cannot fathom time with the precious intellect
(ego) you cling to. You will fathom it in your Heart.
11. Time is a liquid, fluid motion--unlike any description
humanity has yet discovered. It is a porous surface that can be
folded and wrapped around that [which] has no beginning, nor end.
It is neither sequential, nor simultaneous--it is closer to the
waves on your oceans--each drawn to crash on perpetual shores
throughout eternity. What flows in, flows out, in an endless cycle
of overlapping eddies. Does this clarify "time" for you?
I didn't think so.
12: So, be at peace with your concept that time, as you know and
experience it, is sequential. Your past lives were lived and
experienced and have fed into Who You Are in the present. You
cannot see all your possible futures, nor all your probable
presents in other dimensions that overlap your time and space. Can
the fish who swim
just beneath the surface of your oceans know what it is
like in the abysmal depths so deep where no sunlight ever shows
and every square inch of surface is subjected to tons of pressure?
No. They live in "another world," another dimension, but
the same
ocean. You live in one level of your "ocean."
Zeb
uses the "ocean metaphor" again when speaking in regard to our past lives. In ZZ Message #36:44,
he said, “You
are both 'reflections'
of your pasts--no different than the waves
that break on your shores.
They don't just suddenly appear. They have come from afar by
forces unseen and become visual, appearing as waves on your shore
line. "

So, time evidently comes from some distant unseen
"source" and doesn't become "visible" where it
can be measured until it "breaks on our shores." That
gives us something more that expands on the concept of time and
brings us to this conclusion.
In
Conclusion:
When Caryl asked how long ago (in years) the Atlantis disaster
happened, Zeb gave us this in ZZ Message #50:
12
Your people believe time is something that is "fixed,"
that it can't be altered or rent by some catastrophic event of
[cosmic] proportions. Well, they are wrong. Time is in a constant
state of flux. Humankind has in just the past four thousand years
not only changed both its measure of time, but the concept of the
universe several times. Your "scientific" measuring
devices measure time as you now conceive it.
13. Quite literally, “time is relative.”
Relative to how you
measure the years, the speed of rotation of your planet, and its
orbit around your Sun. On its own all of this is slowing
down--without such an event [as the destruction of Atlantis] that
literally "ripped the fabric of time" and created a warp
that you can't explain today. What happened in an instant, the
"time" between two heartbeats will register from 15,000
to 10,500 BCE.
So, as many will tell you, "Time
is what you make of it."
