A Visit With Mel

Volume 2

The Symbolism of The Joining Ritual

It has been far too long since my last "visit," but a surprise twelve-day hospital stay delayed me. I want to thank each and everyone of you who prayed for my recovery and sent their healing energy. It worked--I'm still here.

What I'd like to talk about in this visit is the sequence and symbolism behind "The Joining Ritual." This ritual is part of the Marriage of Lights on the Otherside for Twin Souls who have completed their final incarnation. It is often used here in the physicality by Twins as a statement of their Love and Surrender to each other.

There's nothing "wrong" with believing it is "The Joining Ritual" if the woman extends her right hand first to her male Twin who accepts, and they then kiss. This is just not the full ceremony or truth. As with any ritual, The Joining Ritual has a prescribed symbolism and order in which it is enacted.

We've also been recently told by ZZ that the terms "male-gendered" and "female-gendered" Twin refers to the soul's primary gender or aspect, not necessarily the current incarnated physical gender of the individual. What does this apparent "splitting of hairs" mean? Lots. It means that same sex Twin Souls can and do exist.

[MC Note… This will be explained shortly in another article to be posted soon. Neither of us (Melvyn or Caryl) have any prejudice regarding expression of same sex relationships. The misunderstanding came about because of word usage in the channeling of the ZZ Article, Twin Soul Development-Maturity v.s. Age.  Mel explains this in, “A Visit With Mel,” volume 3 –A Clarification Regarding Same Sex Twin Souls – Coming soon.]

In the ZZ Message 71:28 the Joining Ritual is presented in three phases or steps--first: the hands (which represent the soul); second: the lips and the inhaling of each other's breath (which  represents the exchange of spirits): and finally the joining of the physical to make One out of that which was two.

So that you will not have to look up this message reference that continues to remain our most popular article, I present it here in its entirety from ZZ Message 71:28 of
09/11/04 :

"There is a formal process to this to put some minds at ease. The physical joining [physical as well as spiritual] will occur when first the five fingers of the right hand of the male-gendered Twin are extended and matched with the five fingers of the left hand of the female-gendered Twin. Their palms are pressed, joining these sensitive Chakras. But with this the cycle is half-complete. The female [gendered] Twin extends her right hand, representative of her masculine side and the male [gendered] Twin surrenders his female half by touching the five fingers of his left hand to her right. Their palms press, and this is followed by a touching of lips. The spirit is breathed out of one and is inhaled by the other and again, this is reversed until the two become One."

Right from the start we can see the trinity of events that follow in a set order: 1) the joining of the hands, left and right, represent each independent half of the Twin Soul; 2) an exchange or merging of spirits that were separate: and 3) the joining or merging of bodies into One.

While some may argue that we do not have "bodies" on the Otherside, we do. We have spirit-energy bodies--that which was your "Astral Body." This is but another example of Divine Sex--that sex is sacred, not some base-level animal instinct (as some have proposed).

Yet, remember the symbolism behind Sacred Sex. It is a joining of body, soul and spirit (not necessarily in that order), nor does this "joining" rely totally on sex. Twins who are separated by many geographic miles can still become joined through their correspondence--where mind meets mind and hearts join in total surrender. Joining is all about Love's Surrender not just of one to the other, but of each to each other.

But how does the right hand represent the masculine side? I thought men were left-brained oriented and women are right brained oriented? They are. While I make no claims to anything but a rudimentary knowledge of the brain, I believe it is rather common knowledge that the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body.

This is evident when one has a stroke on the right side of the brain which paralyzes the left side of the body. There is a cross between the two. Therefore the left side represents feminine emotion and inspiration and the right side represents masculine intellect and logic. Both male and females have masculine intelligence and feminine emotions. Bi-Gender Balance is when both the male and female brings these two aspects of their nature  into balance. This is accomplished by  listening to the inner voice and balancing the intuitive with the intellect and is aided by spiritual study.

Love's Surrender

The "Joining Ritual" of the hands is all about love's surrender and equality of the genders. Why does one have to "surrender" to the other? The best I can answer is "this is the way it is." In the physical expression of sexuality both male and female can approach the merging aggressively or with gentle passivity. So the joining of souls in "Love's Sweet Embrace" is different than in the joining of bodies in Sacred Sex.

The male-aspect soul (usually male in physicality) extends his right hand first offering his traditional protection in exchange for the female-aspect (usually female in physicality) soul's surrender with her left hand. This refers back to the first Hetero-gendered incarnation which occurred immediately after the initial Twin Soul Split. She, surrenders and immediately extends her right hand asking for his surrender.  This is representative or symbolic of the current life incarnation where both have reached Bi-Gender Balance.

She extends her right hand, and with his surrender (joining his left hand to her right) we have represented symbolically The Alpha and Omega (the beginning and the end). The cycle is complete there is no "ending". Each ending is just another beginning. What beautiful symbolism is found in "The Joining Ritual." Perhaps this is why it remains our most popular article.

The Joining of Spirits

What comes after the "hands" ceremony? The pressing of lips! This is not a simple kissing. It is symbolic of a joining necessary for the merging of spirits. Many ancient spiritual beliefs considered "the breath of life" to be the spirit of life itself. The first phase or stage of the ritual was a reunion or merging of souls. This second part is a reunion or merging of spirits which are the finest representation of your physical life. Does anyone begin to see a sequence and symbolism (perhaps in reverse order) that is being built here?

First souls were split and that which was once one became Two and is reunited into One again. After the souls were split, before the physical body was created in the mother’s womb, the spirit becomes and enters the body as "the breath of life." Finally, we have a joining of two bodies into One.

The "Joining Ritual" or reunion of Twin Souls is in the exact reverse order that life is created.

The Joining of Bodies

The joining of physical or spiritual (Astral) bodies is not simply sex, but Divine or Sacred Sex. This is why Divine Sex was once sacred to all early spiritual beliefs (before the patriarchal control). All believed in the Divine Duality (masculine and feminine) of all things. To us it is the Twin Soul, the Twin Flames to the early Sufis, or simply the masculine and feminine aspects of both genders as some New Age believers call it who choose not to accept the Twin Souls reality.

What's the difference? Nothing. Terms or names are of our creation (not God's). We can call the things of God anything we choose as long as the understanding is clear. That is why spiritual study and the knowledge gained thereby are so important to our soul development.

My Blessings to You
