The Channeling Process

I didn’t set out to be a "channeler." It is possible that I may have chosen to be such in the "in-between life," or before any of my incarnations began. All I know is that I now am one--not by my own profession, but by the profession of others whose opinions I value more than my own.

I wasn’t born with this skill. It came to me as a result of the path of spiritual enlightenment that I chose late in life. For this reason, and the fact that I am assured that God is within all of us, I believe others can also channel.

What is Channeling?

Channeling is a two-way process of communication that results in a flow of information that may come across as a spoken dialogue or as a written dialogue between the channeler and the entities channeled.

This process of communications may often overlap several paranormal abilities and is not easily divided into one or the other. For example, if one channels an entity in this physical dimension, (whether on this planet or from another) and that entity takes you to its home and shows you what it wants you to see--you are experiencing both "channeling" and "remote viewing."

If that entity dwells in the "Spirit World" of the Otherside, and it takes you to its home you are experiencing both "channeling" and "Astral Travel." Opening a "link" to another mind, whether on this side or the Otherside, is essentially a "telepathic" process. A "knowing" is often exchanged direct into your "knowing center" without words or visual images using the higher levels of sight, speech, or hearing.

In order to describe what you have seen to others, you often have to "translate" the experience into your own words or images so others can "hear" and "see" what you were given.

The process of channeling is not an "exact science." Many think that the channeler is speaking the words of God or some other higher entities, when what is actually happening is that God or this higher entity is within the channeler's mind trying to find the symbols for the meaning it wishes to express.

This is often as frustrating for the spirit beings as it is to us. Rarely do they speak in our languages. If the word symbols do not exist within our vocabulary, the channeled entity is somewhat handicapped. The channeler is the Speaker, the channeled entity is the Source behind the words spoken.

So if you come across a channeler who makes a great show out of distorting his or her voice trying to mimic what he or she thinks a Spirit Entity would sound like, well, in most cases (not all) you may be watching a fraud. Zeb likes to use the metaphor that I am the clay, they are the potters, and the result (the Message) is the vase. It is a product of both them and me.

This brings up the valid question, "How much is them and how much is me?" It has been said by others that under ideal conditions, the channeler may hit near 80 to 95% accuracy. (Meaning that from 15 to 20% is from the channeler and the rest comes from the entity)

Why does one even bother if it is less than 100%? One "bothers" because few are ever 100% "right on" and the channeler is seldom aware of how accurate (or inaccurate) he or she is. Usually confirmation comes from others who act not only as a morale booster for the channeler, (it does for me) but it is a reinforcement. The channeler always requires another to confirm when they are "on target."

How does one begin to channel?

Let me begin by telling my story.

My ‘channel’ began to open in the spring of 2002 shortly after I had read a series of New Age books where the authors proclaimed that we all have spirit guides—often multiple guides, and that we could actually communicate with them. This intrigued me because coming from a traditional Christian background, I had always believing we spoke to God through prayer, and that God spoke to us through his Words. (Meaning the scriptures.)

I was taught that prayers were answered in accordance with "God's Will," and if my prayers were not answered for some reason or another this was my fault. Either my "Faith" wasn't strong enough, or my "Walk with God" was faulty. When things didn't work, I assumed it was my fault. I never dreamed that I might be praying to a "lesser god." So, after many years of unfulfilled promises, I became an agnostic.

That was years ago, but as I read these books I learned about people who could speak to their Spirit Guides. To me, God seemed distant and unreachable, but a Spirit Guide was a little closer. What if…

I shook myself back to reality. You can’t believe everything you read, right? Doubts kept scurrying around inside my head, but if others had Spirit Guides and they could communicate with them for guidance, as skeptical as I was, I was willing to give it a try. After all, my life wasn’t going all that great. I could certainly use a little guidance.

Somewhere in the books I studied it suggested visualizing a "blackboard," (If you are old enough to remember when school marker boards were slate black) and once that was firm in the mind to visualize a hand writing a name. I closed my eyes and simply thought of my Spirit Guide and asked, "What is your name?"

Nothing!

Nothing for a month or so, however, I didn’t give up. I kept at it, and one day I got a name…

Zeb!

Zeb? Who on Earth was "Zeb?"

Well, come to find out, he was no earthly being, and hadn't visited this earth since the time of the destruction of Atlantis. But that’s another story. I was excited. I had a name, and I was ready for some Spirit Guide Guidance! That's what they're for, right? I thought so.

Well, I got my wish, but it wasn't exactly what I expected. Luckily, I wasn't "expecting" anything particular, for I have learned since that what you expect is usually what is projected back to you.

On June 30, 2002 I received my first "revelation" on Life Force Energy--Kundalini of all things--something I had never heard. Here are a few lines from that first message:

ZZ Message #1 ( 06/30/02 ) "Life Force Energy"

1. A man's "ka" (life force), his masculine aspect, moves from the base or Root Chakra upwards--finally reaching his spiritual or Crown Chakra. This controls everything he does and eventually is his defeat--unless he listens to his feminine aspect and follows her nature.

2. A woman's "ka," her feminine aspect, moves from the Crown Chakra (her God-centeredness) downwards, finally reaching her Root Chakra. This controls everything she does and is why she outlasts a man.

3. A man and woman are drawn to each other by the yin and yang of attraction, the desire for unity and harmony. They are kept together by their balance of ka--as long as both fell centeredness. This is good. You have lasting unity but not total harmony and oneness.

4. Think of it as two pyramids, one over the other with the masculine aspect its base centered on the root chakra and its peak reaching the crown chakra and the feminine aspect its reverse...

Sounded like I had overdosed on Chinese fortune cookies! My first message from Zeb was a revelation in "sex education," interestingly applied to the Seven Chakras. Along with this revelation came a vision of two triangles interlocking like a “Star of David.” I had no idea what that meant, but I made a small sketch of what I saw.

Sometimes the meaning of what I get when I channel isn't immediately apparent. For instance, I was to learn later that this flow of life force energy through the charkas is called "Kundalini." I had no inkling of this at the time.

I didn't discover the meaning of the interlocking triangles until two years when I read The Da Vinci Code and a related book called The Templar Revelation. From this I discovered that a triangle base-down is an ancient symbol for the masculine aspect and a triangle base-up is an ancient symbol for the feminine aspect. Have them fully merged one into the other and you have not only the symbol of Divine Sexuality but the familiar "Star of David," which long before it was associated with Zionism or Judaism stood for something much more sacred and universal--the union of man and woman.

Though I was somewhat skeptical about this "Divine Sexuality" revelation and its relevance to a man pushing the heck out of sixty, I figured I had hit "pay dirt." I had my first contact with a spirit being, but I still didn't know what was my Source. Oh, I knew Zeb was the source. But what was Zeb? So I kept pestering Zeb, getting nowhere fast. In fact after an exciting "break through" I hit a quiet spell for months. I wasn't the quiet one. Zeb was.

Between June of 2002 and November of 2002, there were several short communications which I did not record. Caryl and I, having known for over a year that our relationship was different, felt an intensity growing between us. We were connected on so many levels and had so many synchronicities. By this time, we had heard about Twin Souls and began to study. From the beginning of our correspondence there had always been strong feelings between us, but not until this time did we in our hearts begin to accept the truth and allow a bonding to take place. This inner link is hard to explain.

Then on November 10^th 2002 , Caryl had a spiritual awakening—a four day Divine Communion with Zeb, though at the time of the experience she expressed it as a divine connection with the Source—which it was. Zeb bonded us during this communion.

Zeb came though to me with his second complete message which I recorded on November 15, 2002 , as follows:

ZZ Message #2 ( 11/10/02 ) "Revelation of our Guides"

1. Be still. In time all will be revealed to you and Caryl. Right now, it is enough to know you two are joined. I am not your Spirit Guide, but your Guardian.

2. There is Markus and Aileen, they are both your Guides and guide you both as one--Aileen is [guiding] Caryl and Markus is working [with] you. In time you will be shown more. You both will hear, see, and receive from these and more. Yours is a special union--a crowning star to show the way, a light to others. What has been, will be, and more. Be patient you are being guided on the right path--all is as it should be.

Each of you are in the place where you should be for now. Place no limits on your Self-love, nor on the others who will soon come to you. Be centered and be a center for they are coming. You both see your destinies, but only the rim. I and others are with you. Markus sends his love. Caryl reach out to Aileen; she is nearer to you than you think. Listen, in the silence and you will hear her voice. You will be the first to hear for you both. I am stronger, therefore I came before. Peace and Love. Zeb.

After this we began to think of Zeb as our “Guardian” (like in "Guardian Angel) but in later Messages he revealed himself to be a "Creator God" Oversoul of our Soul Group (but not all Soul Groups) and my and Caryl's Spiritual Parents. Not the Spiritual Parents of everyone in this Soul Group. For some, Zeb and Zarna would be Spiritual Grandparents.

But this information wouldn't come to us for some time, in fact it was like pulling teeth to get anything out of Zeb as to what he was. For in a subsequent channeling he revealed he wasn't a "Guardian Angel" either. What kind of "cat and mouse" game was this entity playing? I was quickly running out of ideas of what kind of "Spirit Entity" Zeb could be. Having come from a fundamental Christian background, there was only one kind left--an Evil Spirit. I swear I could hear a host of laughter at that prospect.

Zeb finally told me, "I am all of these things and none of them."

Now, there is an answer I could hang my hat on! Bear in mind, this process covered nine months after my first contact. So, I started insisting that he let me "see" him.

I had already received non-visual impressions, "knowings" of what Aileen and Markus looked like. I could describe them down to a "T" (even though I hadn't "seen" them). But Zeb, I wanted to see. I admit I was a bit reluctant at what I would get, expecting anything up to and including a " one eyed, one-horned, flying purple people-eater."

C: (Caryl)> Hmmm, I know Zeb and Zarna said to include a little humor in these articles, but you’re really showing our readers your age, Twin!

Mel:> Be quiet, Caryl. This is my article!

C: Yes, I know, but I thought this might be a good time to let everyone know that at ZZ's request I will be popping in from time to time.

Mel: That's right. Sorry, Twin. Friends, this is my buttinsky twin who I love without exception even when she is interrupting my article.

C: I will leave you to your article in a moment. I just wanted to explain why sometimes we will address what most would consider "serious subjects" from a position of humor. Let me add a section from one of the ZZ Messages so all will understand our intensions.

ZZ:(57:28) Through your mouths creation's mysteries will become clear and you will bring the element of humor back into divine messages… You will focus on… the joys of giving and love. ..You see, we too love to laugh and smile, and we have a sense of humor.

C: So friends, please forgive my Twin's sometimes clichéd attempts to keep it light.

Mel: And my Twin's need to add the feminine two cents. You are quite right. I was getting wound up telling my story that I forgot that little detail. We will try to follow ZZ's advice. Thank you, dear.

C: You're welcome. I think you can continue now.

Anyway, I expected to see something "God-like" and I discovered the disadvantage of having a preconceived notion about anything spiritual. If you expect God to look a certain way--like the stereotypical Sunday School book picture of Jesus--then when you ask to "see God" that is what you get ... exactly what you expect.

What I got was a "Jesus without a beard." A "stock character" right out of Central Casting for "The Passion of Christ," or "The Ten Commandments," a radiant being with long flowing light brown hair, crystal blue eyes, wearing an ankle-length robe and sandals. Even I thought that was corny.

C:> Corny!! Oh dear, we’ve just lost anyone under 50!

Mel:>Forgive my twin. She has to get in her two cents.

As I was saying:

Rule #1 for channeling, Astral Travel, or Remote Viewing: "Don't have any preconceived ideas, because what you believe, will be what you see. Why? Because you will create your beliefs in the Astral dimension where most of these connections occur.

I may have created "God's Image" but I didn't expect God to have a sense of humor. I was ragging him in one of my letters about what he wore to someone and sure enough our next contact he had something to say about it. On November 23rd we had the following message along with my comments to Caryl in my Journal:

ZZ Message #4 ( 11/23/02 ) "Knowing"

Mel’s Journal Entry:> Zeb's Messages are coming fast and furious to the extent that I can't keep up with this journal in chronological order. I write them in my Daily Journal, in my letters to Caryl, and sometimes I miss them altogether. I will try to do better and record these here first.

C:> It was during this time that Zeb confirmed to us that Mel and I were twins.”

The past twelve days, God, what an outpouring. I mean that quite literally. An outpouring from God. Where do I start? I've had three just this morning in rapid succession beginning at 5:45 AM .

Zeb:> Knowing -- I speak to you not through your mind's speech center, nor through your auditory system. Such are "processors" that translate and change. I speak directly to your knowing center--the final process from which you know and feel the mind of the Soul… You receive pure knowledge, knowing through feelings. Be at peace and know that I AM. Zeb.

Mel’s Journal Entry:> I had been doubting all this--doubting why I cannot "see" or "hear" them. I've been even doubting how I "know" what our "Spirit Guides" look like, what they wear, their personalities, since I've only "seen" Zeb in a dream vision. I know that Zeb is our Creator God--a non-incarnated spiritual being that is neither male or female. [Zeb & Zarna we were to learn are One Androgynous Being who are able to separate into their respective masculine and feminine aspects with separate identities.]

I know "he" looks purely "Biblical" [robe, sandals, long brown hair and no beard]. In fact, he looks like a character cast for a role in "The Ten Commandments" [or "The Passion of Christ"] and I felt he looked rather clichéd--"Jesus without a beard." I felt our Creator God could be more original than that. This morning I learned he had a sense of humor when he said:

Zeb:> Clothing --"As for what I wear, would you rather I appear unto you naked?"

No thank you.

I was the most skeptical of skeptics with my playful entity who told me Who he was, but not what he was until much later. But I was being prepared to accept something that was larger than I could have imagined. I was speaking to a "Two-In-One" Twin Soul Duality.

When Zeb first appeared, I thought a "Twin Soul" was something you found at a "Dating Club" right? I was far too old for that; besides, my wife of twenty-seven years would probably object.

It wasn't until February 26, 2003 that Zeb decided to spring this little mystery of the Twin Soul Goddess--Zarna:

ZZ Message #8,( 02/26/03 ) "Zarna's Introduction."

Zeb:> My Beloved Caryl,

1. I heard and received your words of Peace and Love. You are receiving me now as is your Twin, but let me clarify something unique that not even I intended. The words you hear are mine, but not the all of me. What you two are experiencing is something unique that is only the beginning.

2. While there will be others who will hear me and join your voices--you two are hearing different aspects of me. Zarna my Twin and I, Zeb, speak One Truth for we are One. But you, Caryl, are receiving Zarna, my feminine aspect, as Mel receives Zeb, my masculine aspect--the same voice, the same mind, but different aspects. One is not to be placed over the other, both are Truth, to be revealed to each other and others.

Zarna's first message came through Caryl and was recorded as ZZ Message #11 of March 5th, 2003 on "Direct Ascension" and her first words were: " Direct ascension is possible but never the goal.." Zarna first spoke through me on April 14th, 2003 in ZZ Message #13 where she said: "Heart is the essence of all things--listen to your heart, not your intellect."

Since then Caryl and I have both been receiving them, her connection more in the form of conversational visitations, with the greatest bulk of the written channeling done by me.

Why Zeb & Zarna?

Why did I get ZZ when I was looking for my Spirit Guides? I learned from them that our Spirit Guides (Markus and Aileen) had not developed the power to "connect" or come across strong enough so that I could pick them out of the "background noise" of my mind. No one is really able to totally clear their mind of all thoughts (at least I can't). It's a matter of lowering this background level of "static" to the point that I can hear the strongest signals. The more I am able to lower that level of background noise, the more I am able to "hear" from both others on this side and the Otherside. So, how do I (or you) do that? There are many ways--meditation, and trances are the most common approaches.

Unlike Caryl, I have never been much into meditation, but was once a hypnotist in the 60's, and actively involved in ESP research. I knew self-hypnosis. I knew how to reach various levels of trance, and I recognized what they were. So when I read the classic channeling works of Jane Roberts in the Seth Books, and her definition of a "deep trance," from my experience something about her explanation didn't ring true.

She would often light up a cigarette, or if she couldn't find a match, she would go into the kitchen and rummage through a drawer until she found matches, when she came back--still in a "deep trance"? I fell in love with Jane long after her passing from this life because she was so "normal, but she wasn't "deep trancing."

A deep trance is always characterized by heaviness, and lethargy. You look and feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. You certainly aren't rocking in a rocker, stroking a cat, smiling and smoking, all at once like Jane was. That is a very light trance.

What is the difference? The difference is that the light trance is a layer or level that you pass through naturally every night and morning as you are entering sleep and just coming out. It is at this range where you are half-asleep and half-awake where you can channel and often accomplish all of the other psychic or spiritual processes.

The limits of this paper are such that would prevent me from giving even the briefest overview of self-hypnosis but books abound on the subject and we may even address it in our own works at a later date. Find that "Twilight Zone" of being half-in and half-out of this world and you will accomplish amazing things you only dreamed were possible in a fantasy world.

How do you learn to channel?

Three Steps to Becoming a Channeler:

It is truly exciting to observe someone when they first hear "The Voice of Zeb & Zarna" come from within and not from some other person. While what you may hear from others can be assumed to be their truth--it is all together a different matter when you hear and discover it for yourself--from within. What you will discover is that this ability has always been there and perhaps at times you have benefited from it but probably thought it was your imagination, "a hunch," or "a dream."

Channeling is something "psychics" do, right? Not necessarily--when you consider we all are "psychic" to some degree. In fact, to demystify the whole process Caryl and I prefer to think of it as a spiritual process. If you want to discover this ability within yourself, you have already taken:

The First Step: Desire to make it so.

The Second Step: Belief. You don't have to believe that I or any other person can speak to God (and have Her speak back), but you have to believe you can.

The Third Step: Freedom. You have to free yourself from old beliefs that hold you to the past, especially those beliefs that tell you that it is "evil" to have a two-way conversation with God. You know those beliefs of which I speak. Those who would say that God stopped speaking to mankind two thousand years ago. Well, I've got "news:" God has never stopped speaking to men and women--most of us just don't listen.

The channeling process is a natural result of opening your mind to spiritual knowledge that frees, rather than enslaves. To hear "The Voice of Zeb & Zarna" or other highly evolved beings, you must "hear" with your feelings (not your ears,) you must be guided by your intuition (not your intellect) and be inspired by the Divine Feminine aspect of God within you.

Does this mean you must leave your religion in order to hear God within you? No. One can find elements of God’s truth within all religions, but you must be able to distinguish what man has added to the doctrine to control the minds of the masses. How can you distinguish God's Word from Man's Word?

God's Word is always about Love. "Love ye one another." God never imposes his/her will over your “freewill.” And above all else God teaches equality of all men and women. God gives you peace, not fear of condemnation and judgment. In your heart (not your mind) you will know God's message. That is why some have said: "In order to believe in God, you've got to be out of your mind." God is distinguished with the feelings of the heart not through intellect.

No doubt if you have found this website and have read this far you have likely read a "New Age" book or two, and found that most of them ring with the same themes: "We are All One,” “We are All God,” “God is Within, not Without," and perhaps the most important one of all: God’s Love -- Unconditional Love. We are to love one another as the Gods and Goddesses we are, to walk our path without judgment or expectations and allow others to develop according to their own freewill.

Putting these principles to practice will help open your Path to Freedom, and your channel to higher level beings from the Otherside.

Now, there are many other "universal truths" you will eventually discover along the way and you will come to know them as your truths. These include "The Twin Soul Concept" and "Reincarnation," but such is not essential for the "opening up" process required for channeling.

In my quest for spiritual enlightenment I discovered the "Twin Soul Concept," and something far more precious and rare--my own Twin Soul, Caryl. I also discovered the Divine Feminine part of not only myself, but of God, The Twin Soul Goddess--Zarna.

All of this was a prelude to my actual "Channeling Process" that would come quite by accident--when I was looking for my Spirit Guides.

If you call on Zeb or Zarna, or just ZZ and follow your own inner promptings by listen with your heart, you will hear the Voice.
